Hi,
My name is Allison and the horse in the picture is my guy Payton. Payton has been a trusted and loved lesson horse at my barn for over a decade. He's a barn favorite. Recently, he came in from the field with a case of hives and a slightly elevated temperature. We deal with seasonal hives often and thought nothing of it. The next day the hives exploded as did his temperature. This landed him in the hospital. After a week of IV fluid, meds etc the cause of his hives and systemic sickness were never discovered.. His body was covered in scabs and welts. As the welts supsided he started to lose almost all of his fur. He has a white face and very pink muzzle, His face looked like he had 3rd degree sunburn all over it. It was very painful for him.
After a week in the hospital he came home to continue his recovery. I'm happy to say that he is fully recovered except some bald spots on his body and place where is fur is starting to grow back. He's still not being ridden but he's his happy, curious old self.
Needless to say a week in an equine hospital is very expensive and I'm asking for help for his medical bills. In total it was about $10,000.00 I'm hoping to raise $7500.00 but will be grateful for any aissistance.
I love my lesson horses and give them the best care. It's a huge unexpected bill that has caught me off gaurd. Lesson and boarding barns are not huge money makers and every dollar is claimed, which is why I am asking for help. Thank you!
