Cousin Johanna Needs Your Help for Surgery

Hi, everyone! I’m raising funds to help my cousin Johanna in Ecuador who needs leg and ankle surgery. Back in December, she was robbed, which led to an accident where she broke her ankle (talar neck fracture dislocation). The doctors in Guayaquil initially told her she would never walk again. After hearing this devastating news, my mom reached out to a friend and doctor at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, who assured us that wasn’t the case.

Thanks to the support of Dr. Black, we were able to connect Johanna with a skilled surgeon in Quito, Ecuador. Her surgery is scheduled for July 8th, followed by two follow-up appointments. Unfortunately, the orthopedic surgeon does not accept her insurance, so the surgery is being paid for in cash. Johanna has taken out a loan to cover some of the costs, but she also needs help with housing during her stay in Quito.
