Courtney's Recovery to Good Health

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Abby Snider, and I am fundraising for my dear friend, Courtney Ott, to help with her recent increasing medical bills.

As some of you may know, Courtney is a Childhood Cancer Survivor. She fought and beat Osteosarcoma at the age of ten years old. Unfortunately, since then, she has had multiple side effects due to her intense treatments. Courtney is a James Madison University graduate and serves as a Campus missionary in the Shenandoah Valley, ministering to Mary Baldwin University and Bridgewater College students.

Last Monday, August 15th, Courtney underwent extensive spinal surgery to repair a bilateral stress fracture in her lower back. This injury has been ongoing for many years due to her cancer treatments and has progressively worsened. The spinal surgeon fixed everything using other parts of her backbone and a cadaver bone in her L4 vertebra. Unfortunately, the surgery ended up being much more extensive than expected, and the surgeon found she had bones floating with nothing holding them in place. Courtney has spent the past week at the University of Virginia Medical Center and was transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation center this past Tuesday. While there, she will have intense rehab, including physical and occupational therapy, several times a day to build up her strength as she recovers and to help her learn how to care for herself at home when the time comes. Her overall recovery time will be between 8-12 weeks.

As expected, the medical bills from this extensive surgery, including doctor visits, scans required before surgery, the surgery itself, hospital stay, and inpatient rehabilitation, have become increasingly more of a burden. Nevertheless, Courtney has followed God's calling to minister full-time to college students on college campuses within the Shenandoah Valley. She has committed her time to service, and additional funds, even after insurance, are scarce to pay for these expenses. She needs our help with these medical bills to concentrate on her prolonged recovery and get back to ministering full-time to college students.

Please consider a donation to help Courtney at the time. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. We thank you in advance for your generosity and blessing of Courtney.
