As many of you know I have Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), but what a lot of you may not know is that it has been extremely treatment resistant. I struggle on a daily basis trying to manage my symptoms of deeply conditioned hyper vigilance, anxiety, panic attacks, and a general feeling of unsafety even in safe environments. After many years of EMDR/CBT therapy and countless medications that have not been effective, I was referred to the AIMS Institute in Seattle for Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAT) https://www.aimsinstitute.net/services/ketamine-assisted-therapy/. When people think of Ketamine they often think of recreational use or its use as anesthesia in the hospital setting, but new research has come out that KAT is greatly beneficial for pain management, major depressive disorder, PTSD and CPTSD https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6457782/. Because so many therapies/medications have failed to fully help me, my next potential gateway to relief is through research institutes where I can add to the body of research already done on how Ketamine can help those with CPTSD and other ailments. I have been approved for KAT at the AIMS Institute, but because Ketamine has not yet been approved as a treatment for CPTSD, my infusions will not be covered by insurance. That being said, each session is around $650 and I will need anywhere from 3-20+ sessions depending on how much relief I get and the progress I make after each infusion. As a full-time student with limited income, I am here today to ask you to donate any amount of money you are able to, in order to make it possible for me to seek this treatment. Any money that it not used for my KAT will be donated to the CPTSD Foundation https://cptsdfoundation.org/. I'm currently studying at the University of Washington and am studying psychology and while I'm doing well in school for the time being, I'm hoping to move on to a PhD program and without some relief of my daily symptoms, I'm not sure I will be able to continue on my path in a mindset that would enable me to thrive. Aside from school I would love to be able to find relief so that I can be more present, comfortable, safe and secure in my own life and I'm hoping that this treatment will move me in that direction. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering donating to my treatment, I really truly appreciate it.
