I'm writing to share some personal news about our amazing team/family member, Courtney Herrera. She has given me permission to share her situation with you so that we can all fight this battle together. Courtney was recently diagnosed with cancer. While this news is undoubtedly difficult, I want to focus on the incredible strength and resilience she possess, and the power of our collective support.
Courtney is facing this challenge with courage and a positive spirit. She will begin Chemotherapy on February 13th. This is an opportunity for us, as a team, to show what we're made of. We're not just colleagues; we're a support system, a network of care and encouragement. Let's rally around Courtney and provide the strength and love she needs during this time. Remember, we're in this together. Let's be a source of strength and hope during this journey for our family member.
Here is information from Courtney:
“After originally being diagnosed with undifferentiated spindle cell sarcoma which manifested as a tumor in my thigh/pelvis I underwent surgery to remove it in August and was clear of any cancer.
Sarcoma is a group of rare cancers making up less than 1% of cancers. It’s aggressive and reoccurs either locally, regionally, or metastatic.
Last week at my 6 month follow up I found out that the cancer had metastasized to multiple spots on both my lungs. Doctors have ruled out surgery and radiation and I’ll begin 6 rounds of chemotherapy starting next Thursday which I’ll receive every 3 weeks. The doctors told me my cancer is no longer curable and has switched to us attempting to get to and maintain the status of no evidence of disease for as long as possible.
I’ll be transitioning to Telehealth while I undergo treatment. I appreciate any prayers, thoughts, and good vibes you can send my way!”
