Hi, my name is Amy Boyd, and I am fundraising for my great niece Ally Kay Courtney, her husband Ricky, and their growing family. Ally Kay just gave birth to their second child Colton on July 17, 2021 in Lexington, KY, a beautiful baby boy at 6 lbs. 3 oz.
Baby Colton was born with CHD or "Blue Heart Disease," and will also need several reconstructive cardiac procedures at some point later in life. The doctors sent him home a few days after birth, hoping he would be able to grow and develop before those procedures, both for his strength and the doctor's ability to operate on a larger heart.
Due to related issues that the family saw, they took Colton back to the hospital, where he began aspirating, and it became very clear the surgery would not be able to wait until he was older. He was immediately transferred from University of Kentucky Medical Center to a specialist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Ohio to have two stints put in, where he will have to stay under medical observation for at least two weeks while his body heals from the initial procedure. The hope is that these two stints will be enough so that he can wait for a few months to undergo the larger heart surgeries, but that remains to be seen in the coming weeks.
Ally Kay, Ricky, and their daughter KK will live between Cincinnati and their home in Nicholasville for the indefinite future while they wait for more news on Colton, and neither of their jobs allow for them to be able to work remotely through this time. They have been waitlisted at the local Ronald McDonald House as there is not currently any space for them, so for the time being they are staying between the hospital and visiting family's hotel rooms.
I am raising funds for this wonderful family to be able to afford any medical expenses not covered by insurance and for living expenses as they navigate a new city while their newborn stays at Cincinnati Children's.
