According to Illinois State Police, the driver was driving west on Main Street Sunday night when he ran off the road Estes who was a pedestrian on the sidewalk. Sharp’s vehicle came to a rest on its side after hitting a house in the 600 block of Main Street.

A Visitation will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Jason Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Courtney's honor to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
