Five Years of Waiting. They Finally Have Their Visas. Now We Need to Get Them Home.
For five years, this Afghan journalist family has been waiting for one thing: the chance to finally be safe.
Five years of applications. Five years of uncertainty. Five years of wondering whether the door to a new life would ever open.
And now, it has.
Their visas for France have finally been issued.
When I received the news, I was overwhelmed with happiness for them. After everything they have endured, they finally have a reason to celebrate. They have fought for these visas for five long years, and at last they can look toward a future where their family can live without the constant fear and uncertainty they have known for so long.
But there is one heartbreaking reality.
Getting the visas is not the same as being able to leave.
The family is currently in Pakistan, and they need money for their Pakistani exit permits required for their journey. After five years of fighting to get to this point, they are now facing the financial barrier that could prevent them from taking the final step.
They are so close.
I am asking for help because I don't want to see this family come this far only to be stopped at the very end.
The issuance of visas represent the end of five years of waiting, and the beginning of a life where this family can finally breathe, rebuild, work, study, and make plans for tomorrow. Their youngest knows no other life.
I know that times are difficult for many people, and I would never ask unless I truly believed this family needed us.
If you can contribute, any amount will help bring them closer to France. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing their story. A share could reach someone who can help make this final journey possible.
They have done the hard part. They have waited. They have fought. They have endured.
France has finally said yes.
Now let's help this family get there.
After five years, they deserve to close this chapter of their lives and begin a new one in safety.
Please help us get them home.
