The Challenge: Protecting Lives in the Andes

The Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash are true mountaineering paradises. Yet, behind their beauty lie serious risks. Every year, dozens of severe — and often fatal — accidents occur due to falls, avalanches, altitude sickness, or disorientation.

The absence of reliable communication systems and a coordinated rescue response makes these situations even more critical.

The Socorro Andino Peruano (S.A.P.) Project was created as a professional and sustainable solution to this urgent problem.

Our Solution: A Comprehensive Safety System
Course Structure – Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: April 01, 2026 – Huaraz – Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Refresher

The Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is an international certification in first aid for remote areas, designed for guides, rescuers, and adventurers. It is the most comprehensive course for wilderness first aid, preparing participants to handle medical and trauma emergencies when access to hospitals is limited or delayed.

We bring together resources, technology, and expertise to ensure a rapid response while promoting a culture of prevention.

Technical Support : Specialized mountain rescue and professional evacuations.

Logistics Support : Infrastructure, transportation, and essential equipment.

Technological Support : Satellite internet, geolocation tools, and rescue drones.

Financial Support : A permanent fund to guarantee critical operations.

Strategic Action Axes

Our plan is built on five fundamental pillars for long-term impact:

Emergency Fund – Dedicated financing for helicopter rescues, rescue teams, and life-saving equipment.

International Training – Ongoing education for guides and rescuers under global standards (ICAR, UIAGM).

Prevention & Education – Safety workshops for local communities, mountain guides, and operators.

Modern Equipment ⚙️ – Acquisition of advanced stretchers, drones, defibrillators, and satellite communication systems.

Institutional Cooperation – Partnerships with government agencies (SERNANP, High Mountain Police) to build a national rescue framework.

Key Project: Starlink Satellite Network

We have successfully installed our first satellite internet base in Llamacorral, allowing real-time SOS communication.

Our next goal is to expand this life-saving network to key points such as Base Alpamayo and the Huayhuash Circuit, ensuring no expedition remains isolated in the Andes.

Expected Impact

With this project, we aim to transform mountain safety in Peru and position the Andes as a global reference point for high-altitude rescue:

Significant reduction in fatalities in the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash.

Creation of Peru’s first mountain safety satellite network.

Increased confidence among international tourists and operators.

Recognition of Peru as a South American leader in high-altitude mountain rescue and safety.

Join the Cause!
Together, we can protect lives, strengthen mountain safety, and make Peru a global model in high-altitude rescue and prevention.
