The #CourageOverComfort campaign at St Mary Magdalene Primary School is a transformative initiative designed to boost the mental and physical well-being of its pupils through three pivotal projects. First, the school will introduce a state-of-the-art sensory room, providing a calming space that supports children with sensory processing needs and enhances overall emotional health. Second, the campaign will promote active travel to school, encouraging students to walk, cycle, or scoot, which not only improves physical fitness but also instills healthy lifestyle habits. Lastly, the development of outdoor play and learning spaces will create a vibrant environment where children can explore, play, and learn in nature, fostering creativity, collaboration, and resilience. Together, these enhancements aim to build an inclusive, engaging, and supportive school community where every child has the opportunity to thrive academically and personally.

In recent years, the importance of mental and physical health in educational settings has gained widespread recognition. Children’s wellbeing directly impacts their academic performance, social skills and overall development. At St Mary’s, we strive to create an environment where every child can thrive. However, our current resources are insufficient to fully address the growing need for specialised facilities and equipment that support holistic pupil wellbeing. Over this academic year, we are planning a series of events that will focus on fundraising for our initiatives. These events will cover a broad spectrum to ensure that all pupils, families and staff can participate.
