Courage to face Guillain-Barre Syndrome
Donation protected
Hi! I am reaching out for monetary support on behalf of a super amazing and sweet co-worker/friend diagnosed with GBS, Logan Humphries. Please read his story, as he can tell it best:
"On December 6, I noticed that my legs were not quite feeling 100%; that quickly turned into my hands, feet, lips, and tongue, going numb and tingling 24/7. This tingling was accompanied by severe pain that would come and go all throughout my body. After a few doctor visits and 2 trips to the ED, I was left without answers and leaving providers perplexed as to what was causing these issues.
On December 12, I woke up and discovered that I was no longer in control of the left side of my face, had lost movement in my eye and left side of my mouth; after a trip to the ED, it was diagnosed as a fairly severe case of Bells Palsy. This diagnosis still left me with no answer to the other pain and numbness that was occurring.
On Friday I had an appointment with the Neurology team at UNC. At my clinic visit it, was discussed and decided that the best course of action for myself was to become admitted to UNC and begin the work up to treat Guillain-Barré syndrome. While a weight still weighs heavy, I am so grateful and thankful to have a diagnosis and to know what is causing these issues..."
We are thankful to know there is treatment available and Logan's immunoglobin therapy treatment plan is underway. Anyone that knows of this condition understands that the road to recovery can be a long process (months-years). Logan is remaining extremely positive, prayerful, full of faith and courage. Everyday he is working with physical therapy to improve his gait and maintain extremity range of motion. With your prayers and support, we are hopeful that he will have a speedy recovery. In the meantime, until Logan is able to return to work, please consider showing monetary support to assist him and his family in this journey. Warm wishes to you and many thanks!
