Hello friends of Ridgeview Garden Centre! Many of you have met or seen our greenhouse cat we lovingly call Chicken. Chicken was found in the greenhouse by our staff in July of 2024. He was so small he could fit in the palm of your hand. Since bonding over sausage & egg breakfast sandwiches, Chicken has thrived! He loves all his work friends and his customers. He works as hard as anyone, chasing away the mice and hosting meetings in the office most days. He’s surely become a big part of our team! On Thursday, April 17th, Chicken worked late with his human co-workers to set up for our annual Good Friday Easter Egg Hunt. He was so excited for the egg hunt the next morning that he decided to stay outdoors for the night. Unfortunately, sometime overnight, Chicken was struck by a vehicle, dislocating his left rear hip. Thankfully, Chicken is a tough guy and was able to make it back to the greenhouse on 3 legs when he was called for in the morning. Our caring friends at Grimsby Animal Hospital were able to reduce his hip back into place and make him comfortable with some medication. Chicken is spending his recovery time at the home of one of his humans. He has a king size bed and breezy window overlooking the street. He will be back to work soon, but in the meantime, he has a large veterinary bill that needs to be paid. Any little bit you can share will help to get Chicken back on the job soon and is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Ridgeview Staff and Chicken
