Last week my Mom was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and immediately began treatment. My Mom, Cathy, is only 67 years old and still has a lot she wants to check off of her Life's To-Do List. Dealing with cancer has put a slight wrinkle in her plans. My Mom is a tree hugging, Beach Boys singing, proud Grandma who loves any excuse to throw a party.

As soon as we heard about her diagnosis, the entire family sprung into action through organizing meals, rides to appointments, cleaning house, and whatever else came up. All 5 kids made the commitment to jump in car or plane to rush to her side to be there as she starts down this uncertain road. I was able to be by her side on the day she started her chemotherapy treatment and did what I could to support her and the family while I was there. I am her 4th child and live the furthest away. After trying to figure out what I can do for her from a distance, I have come to the decision, with the help of my siblings and dear friends, to donate my hair to make a wig for my Mom! This is the reason for this Courage for Cathy Campaign.

The cost for turning my hair into a wig for my Mom will be roughly $2,000. This includes all shipping costs and the actual creation of the wig which can take up to 10 weeks to make. Any contributions will be greatly appreciated and any additional funds raised will go directly to medical bills. This type of cancer is treatable, not curable, so we are in this for the long haul.
Please help... or she may be wearing one of these. :)
