Hi dear Country Queers & friends,
I'm trying to raise $3000 by the end of June to get the 40+ oral history interviews sitting on my hard drive out into the world & accessible to country queers everywhere! I have about 3,000 minutes of audio in need of transcription, and after 5 years of support from amazing volunteer transcriptionists, it's time to finally pay to get the rest of these interviews transcribed quickly! 1 hour of audio takes an average of 7 hours to transcribe. Transcription services vary, but on average, cost around $1.00 a minute.

Here's some background and more info if you're curious:
Since 2013, I've been interviewing rural & small town LGBTQ+ folks across the U.S.; learning about the joys, the struggles, and the complexity of rural queer life from the mountains to the gulf to the desert and beyond.

I've had the honor of talking to 60 incredible country queers in 15 states, and each and every one of these life-histories is an incredible gift to us all!

But, many of these stories haven't yet been made accessible to the community. This project operates in my free time outside of full-time (plus!) work, and (aside from a 2014 kickstarter) it operates from my spare funds, which have been limited.

I'm turning 33 on June 20th, so I'm asking folks to give $3, $13, $23, or $33 (if you're able!) by the end of June 2018! (You can also give $300 if you want!!! : )

All of the money raised will go towards transcription costs. If we exceed the goal of $3,000, extra funds will go towards upgrading the website: www.countryqueers.com

Please support this volunteer run, community based oral history project if you are able. We need stories that uncover silenced histories and show the complexity and nuance of rural lives & queer lives, now more than ever.

Anything helps! Thank you so so much!
