Donnie Morgan-Liver surgery-transplant
Donation protected
The Morgan Kids Established July 12, 1959 by our big brother Donnie Morgan.
Donnie is fighting to survive Stage 4 Liver Failure; he is in need of a “TIPS” surgery and then a liver transplant.
For a liver transplant he needs to have insurance (which we are working on getting) or a minimum deposit of $30,000 at the hospital. A “TIPS” surgery is to bypass the liver to prevent ascites (fluid buildup in the abdomen).
Donnie is already having about 14 pounds of fluid drained every two weeks, eventually this will be once a week, possibly turning into once a day to prevent sepsis. This will continue until he has the “TIPS” surgery or a liver transplant.
A Little Bit About Donnie and our family:
The Morgan Kids Established: July 7, 1959 with the birth of our big brother, Donnie Morgan.
Donnie was born 4 months early, weighing only 2lbs 3ozs, and needed to have a blood transfusion to survive. Unfortunately, in 1959 donated blood was not tested for Hepatitis C, we believe that life-saving blood transfusion was when Donnie contracted Hepatitis C, eventually causing his liver failure. In 2012 Donnie was diagnosed with diabetes and Stage 3 Liver Failure, caused by the Hepatitis C. He continued to work the last 8 years to support his family until September 2020 when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Failure. Unfortunately he lost his job and insurance at this that time and cannot continue to work due to live failure and side effects of his medication. He has filed for SSI, however the process has been very time consuming (go figure). In the meantime the medical bills are quickly piling up.
Growing up we have been blessed with the strong Morgan bond all of our lives. As most of you know, we lost our baby brother Tommy passed away in 2018, to a rare form of cancer called Peritoneal Cancer. Now our older brother Donnie is fighting to survive Stage 4 Liver Failure. I hate reaching out for donations, but I can’t imagine loosing another brother and because of COVID-19. The abilities to organize a fundraiser are very difficult/not there. Donnie has always put his family and friends first in his life, no questions asked. So now I feel like it is time we support him. Anything will be appreciated, including daily prayer…
Thank you, God Bless.
