"Countermove" is a short heist/drama film about a high school student who devises a genius plan to save his dying mom -- he's going to rob a diner.
The story follows the student, Mattie, as he devises his plan and does his best to execute it. However, setbacks and struggles are inevitable, and ultimately, there may be more to his heist than meets the eye.
Written and Directed by Jack Tortland, a senior Visual Media Arts student at Emerson College, "Countermove" is a film about perseverance, outsmarting your opponent, and doing whatever it takes to save your family. In order to make the film achievable, we're asking for $3,000 in order to pay for equipment rental (lenses, lighting, etc.), food, and actor salaries. Ultimately, we're looking to take this to film festivals to share this story with others, as well as hopefully jumpstart our budding filmmaking careers.
