WHO IS MUSTAFA?
Genetically, Mustafa is a Type 1 SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) patient.
With his little body, and big heart, he is a SMA warrior who is fighting against this disease. We call him MISTIK for short.
For treatment, he only has 1.3 kg left!
There is a therapy called Zolgensma Gene Therapy, and unfortunately, there is a weight limitation for it.. The treatment can only be given to babies that are under 13.5 kg.
When Mustafa gains 1.3 kg more, he will lose his chances of ever getting this treatment!
Zolgensma Gene Therapy costs $2,190,768.
Alongside research, development, licensing, investment and marketing, the little amount of patients that have SMA, their desperate need for this therapy and it being only one dose is the cause for such an expensive cost.
