COULD YOU HELP A NURSE IN NEED?
Donation protected
On Wednesday 6th April, Su Ryan's home in Chichester was devastated in one of the worst blazes some of the firefighters have ever attended. The kitchen is completely destroyed, the bathroom is entirely unusable and the house is unliveable. Su is thankfully safe and well, although she is now effectively homeless. Unfortunately, due to complicating factors, no insurance or funds are available to support Su to rebuild her home - work is estimated to cost £200,000. But together, perhaps we could help this wonderful woman who has enhanced the lives of so many! We appreciate times are incredibly tough, so any donation would be very grateful received.
How Else Could We Help?
If you are a tradesperson who could offer your time, a retailer who could offer clothes or furniture, or a supplier who could offer white goods, worktops, windows etc, please do get in touch. We would be extremely grateful for any offers of support.
Why Su?
Let me tell you a little about what makes Su so remarkable. Su is selfless, caring and compassionate - traits she oozes even though she was not given such in her own childhood. She worked as a Mental Health Nurse at Graylingwell for decades, supporting people to live well with mental health needs, and caring for people at their most ill. During the pandemic, although unable to work due to ill-health, Su beavered away creating hundreds of home-made face-masks and other PPE for colleagues throughout the NHS from her own pocket and kindness. More recently, she was part of a locally organised drive to collect, assemble and send hundreds of boxes to support families fleeing the war. These are just a few examples of her unwavering empathy and generosity. She gives more of herself than most to anyone in need. And now we'd like to be able to pay her back in kind.
Su sparks joy. She is full of life. Those of us lucky enough to call her our family or friend, or who have been on the receiving end of her wonderful care, and even those who have not met Su but have been affected by mental health and supported by the NHS, this is our time to show her how grateful we are. How deserving she is of our love and of her own home. And how communities can pull together to look after our own.
