Could This Happen to You?

Hi, my name is Leigh. I have a close relative who is very generous, he is the type of person who would literally give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He recently started looking for a car to replace his current vehicle that is beyond repair. Having located a vehicle on Auto trader online that ticked all the boxes he made inquiries via email and was told that the owner had COVID but would send the vehicle after funds had been transferred. Unfortunately he was working at the time and did not really process what was going on so being the trusting person that he is, immediately transferred the full amount of $8,800 for payment. This is around 80% of his savings. Having finished work he made some follow up inquiries and to his horror, embarrassment and humiliation found that he had been scammed. No vehicle was to be forthcoming. He immediately asked the bank to reverse the transaction but unfortunately they were unable to retrieve the funds as they had been removed as soon as they deposited. The matter has been reported as fraud but he is unlikely to ever see a cent returned. Now some would say this was a stupid thing to do, (transfer funds without actually seeing the vehicle or the seller ) and a lot of people are very wise in retrospect but we all make stupid mistakes and sometimes we are far too trusting. He is devastated that he has been scammed. I thought about how I could help but I am not in a position at this time to give him all the funds needed. He has NO idea that I am setting up this GoFundMe to help. It will take him at least 12 to 18 months to save up again to be in a similar position to buy a used vehicle. I have seen him donate to charities and he has done charitable work in Uganda for aids and war-affected children. He also helps anyone when the opportunity arises. Some of those I am sending this link to may have actually benefited from his generosity. I understand there are a lot of needs out there in the world with war in the Ukraine, Floods up North in Australia and so many other worthy causes. I encourage everyone to help where they can but I am hopeful some of you will be able to help restore his faith in humanity by supporting this attempt to at least provide some funds back to him. Imagine his surprise if together we could manage to get enough together to provide his first ever new car! Every dollar donated will help...
