Hello Everyone! We are Cougar Racing and we are the Formula SAE team at the University of Houston. At Cougar Racing, our mission is to provide an avenue for our driven and dedicated students to obtain valuable real world design, manufacturing, and business experience by participating in the Formula SAE international collegiate design series competition.

Formula SAE competition sees students spend a full year designing, manufacturing, validating and ultimately competing to see which team can produce the highest quality race car. Students that participate in FSAE are highly sought-after by companies in the automotive/mobility industry as well as many other industries. We, as FSAE students, experience first-hand, real-world application of what we are learning in the classrooms and learn to prosper and be leaders in team environments.

The Cougar Racing team is composed of over 50 student members. Some senior students are using the project for course credit, and some love what we do so much, they volunteer as underclassmen. Through the funding goal we have set, we are striving to provide the means necessary for our students to see all of their hard work come to life by producing the highest quality race car our team has ever built and ultimately funding the trip to compete on the international competition stage this summer at Michigan International Speedway.

Funding Needs

Cougar Racing has an ambitious budget goal this year of $30,000. Achieving this goal will allow us to produce a race car that could have a real chance at competing with the best teams out there.

Some of the expenses we are seeking funding for this year include:

Operational:

- Competition Registration - $2,900

- Team Hotel & Travel - $5,000

- Tools - $2,500

Building the car:

- New Engine - $3,000

- Chassis & Aero - $ 4,100

- Suspension - $8,450

- Braking System - $1,500

- Seat & Firewall - $650

- Wheels & Tires - $3,800

- Hardware & Fasteners - $1,000

Any funds raised during this campaign that go above our stated goal amount will be allocated toward our stretch goal of $15,000 and any funds not used during the car build or competition trip this year will be set aside for those students who we will pass the Cougar Racing torch to next season.
