Hi, we are the staff at Hoover’s River Resort in Piute County, Utah. Over the past three years, our community has been devastated by wildfire after wildfire—the Silver King Fire in 2024, the Monroe Mountain Fire in 2025, and now the Cottonwood Fire in 2026. We’re raising funds to help save our historic family business and preserve a place that has been part of our community for generations.

 Our Connection to Hoover’s: We are current and former employees and members of the Hoover’s River Resort family. Hoover’s is a family-owned business, and many of us have personally worked here and depend on the business for employment. We are raising these funds on behalf of Hoover’s River Resort and the people whose livelihoods depend on it. Hoover’s was established in 1936 as a welcoming stop for travelers along beautiful Highway 89, just four miles north of Marysvale. Like many small businesses in Piute County, Hoover’s is family-owned and has provided jobs for generations of local high school and college students. Unfortunately, repeated wildfire seasons—combined with widespread misinformation about the conditions in our area—have kept visitors away, even when our business has remained open and accessible. One difficult season is something a small business can fight through. But losing two seasons in a row has pushed many local businesses, including ours, to the brink. Now, with the Cottonwood Fire receiving nationwide attention, we’re worried this could be the blow that we simply can’t recover from.

 How the Funds Will Reach Hoover’s: Funds raised through this GoFundMe will be transferred to the Hoover’s River Resort business owner/family, who will use the funds directly to support the business and its employees. We will maintain transparency throughout the process and ensure that the money raised is used for the purposes described below.

 How the Funds Will Be Used: The funds raised will help offset the significant loss of revenue caused by canceled vacations and fewer visitors. Donations will help Hoover’s continue paying employees, cover essential operating expenses, maintain the business during this difficult period, and keep the doors open. If additional funds are raised beyond immediate operating needs, they will be used to support marketing efforts that encourage travelers to return—not just to Hoover’s, but to the entire Marysvale and Piute County area. When visitors come back, every local restaurant, shop, lodging business, and family-owned operation benefits. Every donation, no matter the size, helps preserve a business that has served travelers for nearly 90 years while supporting the employees, families, and community members who depend on tourism.
