As you will have seen in the media, many state schools across England are being forced to make significant cuts due to financial pressures that are pushing many towards breaking point. At Coton C of E Primary School, one of our greatest financial pressures is one that should come without question: feeding our children a nutritious and balanced meal at lunchtime.
Due to an antiquated 1960s kitchen, we are currently unable to provide freshly prepared meals on our school site and are instead forced to pay rising costs to an external company to prepare the meals for us elsewhere and then fund transport arrangements to get the meals to us. This significantly reduces the quality of nutritious food served to our children at lunchtime; limits us in how creatively we can deliver our linked curriculum lessons that teach children about healthy foods and lifestyles (inclusive of Science, Design Technology, PSHE and P.E.); inhibits our wraparound care provision; impedes our HAF voucher offer when delivering holiday clubs; prevents us from supporting wider community events and groups and reduces our opportunity to support local charities.
This year, our aim is to fund the installation of an on-site, energy-efficient catering facility to enable us to provide our children with high-quality, nutritious meals. We have been proactive in sourcing some funding to support the renovation project, however, require further financial backing...
We hope that those of you reading this may be in a position to make a monetary donation towards our kitchen renovation project which will have a positive impact on so many of our wonderful children!
We whole-heartedly thank you for your support and look forward to inviting you in for a delicious meal once our new kitchen is up and running!
