Cothron Family Medical Expense

Things have been rough for my mom and dad since my dad was diagnosed in 2017 with Renal cancer. After the diagnosis both of them lost their jobs at the beginning of 2018 forcing them to lose their insurance and move to a cheaper location so they can live. However. The place that they're staying isn't the best and has it's fair share of issues. Both my mom and dad are disabled. My mom having lymphedema in both of her legs making it nearly impossible for her to walk. And my dads pain being to unbearable to even get out of bed on a daily basis. My dad was recently seen for pain at a local hospital and they found lymph nodes in his intestines and chest. Most likely cancer. He has lost so much weight. And is so sickly. My mom is afraid she will have nowhere to go if something happens to him. Which of course we hope nothing happens. My dad CAN'T eat anything. Everything he eats he throws up. Without insurance my dad doesn't get the best care. He needs the care!
My mom and dad have 1 vehicle and the vehicle they have is starting to wear down and not perform like it needs to. I'm worried that the truck will break down if they go any distance. Gas and medicine is always a problem for them as they CAN'T pay for it. We try our best to do everything possible. But sometimes we just can't. It's so hard to see them struggle! If something happens to EITHER of them, they don't have life insurance. We wouldn't be able to pay for anything. Being that my dad has cancer. Makes it extremely hard for him to obtain a policy.
My moms pre-existing health conditions are the same way. I'm completely at a loss. My family NEEDS HELP!

I've been asked about and given suggestions for medicaid/medicare.  They have spoken to the medicaid office twice and have sat down with them,  showing medical needs, proof of illness, print outs from Pharmacies showing the needed prescriptions and still have been turned down.  There is a mandatory 2 year waiting period for medicare from date of eligibility and they are in the middle of that and still need to wait over a year for medicare  They have written their local congressman in hopes he could shed some light for them by requesting they get approved on his behalf and still no approval   They are receiving medical treatment through LSU University hospital, however, the medications and transportation to and from Monroe to Shreveport is very costly and most of the time, they have to choose between food and care.
