Medical costs for my little girl
Donation protected
Hello. I am raising money to support costs associated with medical care for my 22 year old daughter Kaitlynn. Kaitlynn is in end stage renal failure and been on dialysis for 3 years. The last year she has had other medical issues arise and been in and out of the hospital.
She has not been home since a trip to the ER 2 weeks before Christmas. From there they sent her to a nursing home to have PT and OT to gain strength and come home. 2/22/22 she had her 22nd birthday and when visiting her, she appeared to be her usual self.
On Friday 2/25/22 at approx. 6 am, I received a call from the nursing home stating that upon going to give her meds, she was staring blankly into space and was taking a lengthy time to answer questions but was answering correctly. By 11:30 am when I arrived for my scheduled visit she was shaky, could not sit up on her own, had to have questions asked repeatedly and even after that, her responses made no sense. I also found out that beginning the night prior, staff had to start hand over hand feeding her or just completely feed her to get her to eat. They were hoping her dialysis session that day would help, maybe it was just fluid overload. Fast forward to approx. 8:30 pm that evening, I got another phone call! Kaitlynn had just returned from dialysis and went into cardiac arrest. They had to call the EMT. They took 5 minutes to resuscitate her and took her to the emergency room. There she was put on a ventilator, meds to keep her BP at a stable pressure, and sedated. She was stable but critical. The following day that changed to unstable and severely critical. She is now maxed out on meds to keep her at a safe blood pressure, still on the ventilator, body in septic shock, and multi system organ failure.
We are faced with making hard decisions about her care and code status due to how critical she is. To be more available at a moments notice for both Kaitlynn and the hospital, I am no longer working. Since she is non-responsive, I am now her voice for her care. My husband is a truck driver. He is off work to be at her bedside as her condition is minute by minute. His boss also feels it is safer for him to be at home rather than on the road and recieve the worst of news. Due to this we have no income coming in, insurance does not cover all of the costs associated with what is going on, and our max coverage is approaching fast. We are also faced with what could quite possibly be end of life costs. Unfortunately, she does not have life insurance because she was denied due to her kidney health. Any help to get through this time and make sure her needs are met would be greatly appreciated!
