Benefit for Afro-Mexicans in Costa Chica

Tax deductible
The Dr. MLK, Jr. Task Force is collecting tax-deductible donations to purchase and send health necessities to Afro-Mexicans in the Costa Chica region (Black Mexico) - masks, soap, toilet paper, toothpaste, sanitary napkins, pantry items, and commodities. Donations will also help to supply educational materials and equipment for distance classes for Afro-Mexican girls, boys, and adolescents.

Many Afro-Mexican communities are rural, geographically isolated, and lack sufficient infrastructure – schools, hospitals, roads, etc. The people have been severely affected by the current health crisis, an earthquake, and the country’s transition to remote education.

The Costa Chica region is comprised of the southern part of the state of Guerrero, and the northern part of Oaxaca, Mexico. This area has the largest percentage of Afro-Mexicans in the country. Afro-Mexicans were categorized and counted in Mexico’s 2020 Census for the first time.

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Task Force, is a registered 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit charity dedicated to peace, justice, and equality for all.

In the words of President Vicente Guerrero of Mexico, who was of Indigenous and African descent:

“We are ALL Americans!”

Let us help our fellow Americans.

Please share and kindly support the Afro-Mexicans of Costa Chica, Mexico by donating now.
