Cost for summer education programs

Kayla has been nominated to attend two different, once in a lifetime opportunities that will advance her towards her future educational career goals.  My daughter has wanted to be a surgeon since the age of 6 years old.  The three top specialties include orthopedics, trauma, and cardio thoracic.  She works very hard at her studies and has maintained a 4.0 GPA since she began high school.  Currently, she is a junior and talking seriously about her undergraduate and medical school choices.  She has been taking AP (advanced placement) and honors courses as much as possible since she was a freshman.  Last year, at the age of 15 years old, she attended the National Academy of Future Scientist and Technologist at the University of Massachusetts, in which she was recruited due to her outstanding state testing scores.  While there, she was accepted into the Torch and Laurel Honors Society.  This year, she has been asked to return as an alumni but specifically to the Congress of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.  The other nomination she received early this year through the National Research Center for College and University Admissions (NRCCUA). Due to her high-achieving academic performance to attend the Advanced Emergency Medicine program in conjunction with Stanford University Medical School.  It is a week-long intensive educational learning experience in which she will stay on campus and attend lectures, labs, and work with physicians and have hands on learning opportunities to expand her skills and exposure to medicine. 

Not only does she love all things science and the medical field, but she loves playing softball for her high school, has been playing piano since the age of seven, in which she has composed and been entered into contests for her musical writing.  She also loves the outdoors, including hiking, backpacking, and fishing.  The total cost of tuition for Stanford is $5,584.00 and the cost to attend the congress at the University of Massachusetts is $585.00 not including airfare, hotel stay for 4 nights, car rental, food and other travel expenses.  Last year, it cost approximately $4,000.00.  Any help, big or small, will be deeply appreciated.  She is a driven individual with such a bright future who sees no end to what she can accomplish.  If you would like to learn more about these programs, please see the following websites.  For Stanford: EmgMedicine.com and For Massachusetts: futuredocs.com

The enrollment for Stanford is due by March 16, 2018 with the full amount due, however spots fill up fast.  We have already locked in her enrollment for Massachusetts and will have until the beginning of June to come up with the rest of the funding.  Thank you in advance to those willing to help my daughter reach her goals not only to better her future, but the future of others through her contribution of medicine.  It’s every parents dream to see their children aim high and achieve their dreams and we are doing all we can on our own but in this situation we need help to make these opportunities happen. We are hopeful and will stay motivated to doing all we can to make her educational career happen.
