My name is Gyll and my best bud's name is Cosmo. Cosmo is our family's first dog. He is a playful, loyal, and gentle Pittie mix puppy. He loves going on his weekly outdoor runs on Tuesdays, visiting his favorite dog-friendly brewery on Sundays with all of his friends, and being ever-present in my studio as I attempt to work on music and articles, only being distracted by his relentless requests for tug-of-war.
We have two cats, one of which is Cosmo's best friend, Maximus. Maximus, a rambunctious Abyssinian kitten, and Cosmo play together every day, from the time Cosmo wakes up until he goes to bed. They chase one another around the house, and Maximus playfully bullies Cosmo, though Cosmo seemingly has an endless supply of patience for the 6-month-old, self-proclaimed King of our household.
Shortly after the new year, we noticed Cosmo limping intermittently. It was mainly after he woke up, so we initially thought he was cramped up from sleeping. I scheduled a vet appointment for the following week, just in case. Unfortunately, it only got progressively worse over the two days that followed, and I had to take him to another hospital for him to be seen the next day.
On January 8th, we learned that Cosmo has a patella luxation and he will need surgery.
Patellar luxation is an orthopedic condition in dogs where the kneecap (patella) shifts out of its normal groove on the femur (thigh bone).
At the time of this writing, Cosmo is just less than one month from his FIRST birthday (Feb 2, 2025). Though we intend to move forward with the surgery as soon as we can, we are requesting support from friends, family, and any generous souls to help us with this unexpected expense and to get Cosmo back to playing with his best friend as soon as possible.
Currently, Cosmo is on multiple pain medications and light sedation medication in order to keep him as chill as you can possibly keep a puppy until we can get him to the surgeon. 100 % of each and every donation will be used to cover expenses related to his condition and recovery such as medications, orthopedic consultation costs, surgery costs, recovery costs, etc. We will not be using donations for his regular food, toys, bedding, gas, or anything that is not directly related to this surgery.
Outside of this unfortunate situation, Cosmo is an incredibly healthy, friendly, and kind pup. Watching him struggle to walk on his leg, go up and down stairs (I am carrying him up and down stairs now), and the heartbreaking look in his eyes when we have to take Maximus from the room has been gut-wrenching.
We humbly ask anyone that is able to donate to extend their generosity in our direction.
Thank you from Cosmo and all of us <3
