After a romp at the dog park last Saturday, Cosmo came home happy. But by the next morning, he'd lost mobility in his back legs, couldn't walk and was in a lot of pain. Cosmo is my son, Jacob's, dog...his best friend and family to us. We've consulted with 2 emergency vets and a pet neurologist. He's medicated and going through MRI's now, but it's clear he's going to need surgery as soon as Christmas Eve. It's his best chance to regain mobility in his legs and stop the pain. After a consult, the cost is astronomical... $7,000 for the surgery and anesthesia. It's a blow to our family, especially at this time of year.
