Hi all, my name is Sam and I'm a senior at UIUC. I'm asking for help with my cat, Cosmo's vet bills as he and I go into the third month of an ear infection not healing after lots of doctors visits. I'm sure you can assume, he's not too fond of being in a cone. As a college student working on top of my studies, his financial needs are becoming difficult to keep up with. I have multiple vet visits and treatments to go before this issue is solved, and I am asking for any help you can offer.
A little about Cosmo:
Cosmo is a 3-year-old orange Tabby who I started fostering in May from a rescue I volunteer at. I've since adopted him, but the rescue doesn't have the finances to help with his medical bills. He came to me with what I learned was a poorly treated ear infection that had led to excessive scratching behind his ears. The scratching led to open wounds that got infected and still have not healed all these months later.
He's been on multiple rounds of antibiotics, steroids, and he's been in a cone since the beginning of July. Despite my efforts to get him better, his infection has remained consistent. The vet recently took cultures and is working with a lab to hopefully learn more about the infection and find a solution that gets him better, but with visits every 10 days to check in, he and I are feeling the weight.
Cosmo is the most lovable and perseverant cat I've ever come across in my time volunteering at the rescue. You can ask my roommates, family, and anyone who's ever met him that he has been such a trooper through all of this. If you're able to donate to help me cover his ongoing vet bills as we fight this stubborn skin infection I would be so grateful.
Cosmo has an Instagram @woahitscosmo where you can see more of him and stay up to date on his health. I've attached a handful of photos (some pre-cone) of my little guy so you know who you're helping.
Thank you, if you have any questions about Cosmo please let me know and I can do my best to answer.
