Cory Lewis's Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
Some of you may know that my loving partner, Cory Lewis, has a kidney disease called Alport Syndrome. Alport syndrome is a genetic condition characterized by kidney disease, hearing loss, and eye abnormalities. Cory was lucky enough to receive his first kidney transplant 15 years ago. Unfortunately, Cory's transplanted kidney has begun to fail and his health has steadily gotten worse. Cory has been going through kidney failure for almost a year now, and the only thing that has kept him alive has been home dialysis treatments.
Cory is currently on a donor list with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in Seattle; however, finding a kidney for a transplant is not easy. If he is lucky enough to get a kidney - the transplant center requires us to spend 6 weeks in Seattle so that he can be closely monitored. His insurance covers the cost of the surgery, but we will have to pay for lodging, food, and transportation out of pocket.
We appreciate your love and support during this difficult time. If you are considering donating today - we can't thank you enough. If you are interested in being a living donor, please visit the Virginia Mason Live Donor website at: https://www.vmfh.org/our-services/kidney-care/transplant-center/living-organ-donation.html and click the link that reads: "Start the process by completing a Health History Questionnaire."
