Cory Hallas-Home Purchase
Donation protected
Cory and the Hallas family have been a part of the Montgomery County community and Southmont School Corporation for decades. Beginning in 1973 his father, Mike, started his tenure as a teacher, coach, athletic director, vice principal, principal, and school board member for 30+ years, and most of that time with Cory at his side. Most commonly found in the press box, on the sidelines, at the scorer’s table, or on the bench, Cory has put countless hours into assisting the school and athletic programs. Many students, teachers, administrators, and fans have been impacted by Cory's work ethic, loyalty, and dedication; he has certainly become an unforgettable staple at Southmont.
Cory has rented the same apartment for nearly 20 years but has begun exploring the possibility of home ownership. With the goal of lowering his overall living expenses, he has decided that a condo would be the best fit for his needs. Given the current market, most condos in the county exceed his budget and range from $100,000-$150,000. In order to make his dream a reality and assist with funds for a down payment, the real estate agents of FC Tucker West Central have organized this fund-raising effort on Cory’s behalf with his blessing. Securing these funds will reduce Cory's financial burden and ensure his opportunity to purchase a quality and reliable condo that will meet his needs. To further maximize the financial impact of these donations, FC Tucker will be waiving their side of commission expenses on the transaction.
A note from Cory: ”While going to South Montgomery High School, I managed football for four years, managed basketball one year, and was on the wrestling team one year. I graduated in 1994.
My father Michael Hallas worked as athletic director, teacher, and football coach from 1973 until his retirement in 2002.
I followed in his footsteps, and began work at South Montgomery HS in 2003. I have worked with the Football, Wrestling, Softball, and Volleyball teams over the years.
My favorite thing about my job is all the young people I’ve gotten to know and help. It is a pleasure to see so many familiar faces around town. And to know that I may have made a positive impression on them as they have on me.”
Our baseline goal is $30,000 to cover his down payment and associated expenses while anything above and beyond that amount will be applied to further lower his monthly mortgage payment. Your support in helping us give back to someone who has given selflessly is greatly appreciated!
