Corrie's Fight against Breast Cancer

Donation protected
My mom, Corrie Cropley’s cancer journey began on January 22nd, 2021, when she received a call that would change her life as she knew it. She was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.

On February 10th, 2021, Corrie had surgery to remove the tumor. There were some complications while healing which delayed further treatments. Once the pathology report came back, she was told that her diagnosis was upgraded to Stage 2 Grade 3 Triple-Negative Breast Cancer.

Triple-Negative Breast Cancer is considered more aggressive than other forms of breast cancer because it grows more quickly, is more likely to have spread at the time it’s found, and is more likely to come back after treatment than other types of breast cancer. There are also fewer treatment options because the cancer cells do not have estrogen or progesterone receptors to make hormone therapy or targeted treatments work. Triple-Negative Breast Cancer may be treatable, but is usually not curable. It has a high recurrence rate which is greatest in the first 3 - 5 years.

Once healed from her first surgery, Corrie met with Oncology specialists to discuss next steps. It was decided that she would go for 8 rounds of accelerated chemo over 16 weeks, followed by radiation.

On April 6th, 2021, Corrie had another surgery to insert a chemo port into her chest, and on April 12th, 2021, she had her first chemo treatment.

She will be off work until at least October 2021 (providing all goes as planned with no further complications). Any donations big or small would be greatly appreciated to help with all of the upcoming financial expenses that she is facing.

On behalf of my mom, my family, and myself, we thank you for taking the time to read her story and for all of the love and support that we are receiving.

Thank You,

Jade Severson

UPDATE:

Corrie has finished chemo and has started radiation in Edmonton. She is staying at Sorrentino's Compassion House while receiving treatment. It's a great facility. After this she will start Zoledronic acid treatment by intravenous in October, (once every 6 months for the next 5 years). We want to thank everyone for all the support we are receiving whether it be financial, prayers or other forms.
