I am Corrie McDonald, a 22 year old student and soccer player at York College in Nebraska.
I have been selected as an NAIA representative to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime, cross-cultural experience in Costa Rica with Beyond Sports! The selection criteria included statistical leaders, all-conference recognition, and coaches’ recommendations throughout all NAIA schools in the US.
This is a 9-day long tour from May 15th-23rd, and will give me the opportunity to represent my team, school, and country during both competition and service-learning soccer clinics for local youth.
The coaching staff that will be working with me have incredible experience and will help me gain a great deal of knowledge on the field. Jeff Parker, Head Coach of Stevens Institute of Technology will be coaching the tour! Over his 16 years at Stevens, Coach Parker has led his team to 10 conference championships! He has spent the last two years as the National Chair of the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Committee.
Also, Silvia Betancourt, previous Division I soccer player at Liberty University, and Costa Rican National player is directing the tour.
As well as this, I will be able to teach soccer to local youth and connect with them on and off of the field.
The tour’s total cost is $2,995 with the following being included:
-A Round trip airfare in to Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO)
-8 nights lodging
-All transportation while in Costa Rica
-3 meals per day
-Health insurance through HTH Worldwide
-3 games against local Costa Rican teams
-2 service learning clinics coaching local youth
-Excursion to Manuel Antonio Beach and National Park
-Excursion to Arenal Volcano for Zip-lining and Natural hot springs
-Official Beyond Sports uniform and t-shirt
There are three payments required for the tour:
Deposit= January 20th $500
2nd Payment= February 24th $1,000
Final Payment= April 1st $1,495
This tour will be an amazing experience that will help me grow in so many ways! Therefore, I am beyond grateful to anyone who is able to offer any assistance. I aim to hold several fund raisers along with this go fund me page.
