Corrective Surgery for Noah

Hello, I’m Elizabeth Moreno and I’m fundraising for my six-year old nephew Noah. Noah is the son of Antonio’s sister Diana and they live in Mexico. Noah was born with cystic lymphangioma. Lymphangioma are noncancerous fluid-filled cysts that form in children, often on the head and neck. In Noah's case, he was born with a large cyst on his neck. Many of our friends and family got to meet Noah and experience his contagious smile in 2018 when Diana and Noah traveled to the U.S. to get treatment recommendations. In late 2018, Noah returned to Mexico and had surgery to remove the large cyst from his neck. The surgery was successful, and he has been doing occupational therapy for the past few years to improve movement in his arm, neck, and face. Many patients with lymphangioma need continuous therapy and/or further surgeries throughout their childhood. In Noah's case, he needs to have extensive corrective surgery on his jaw to improve the function of his mouth, which is preventing him from chewing properly. A team of surgeons plans to take nerves from his leg and do reconstructive surgery and grafting on his neck, jaw, and mouth. He will be in the hospital for five days to recover and then will need rehabilitation and additional therapy. All funds from this fundraiser will go directly to Noah's surgery and treatment costs.
