My parents lived in the Hutterite colony for their whole lives. Recently they came to a point in their lives as they prayed and read the Bible where they realized God had something more for them. Through a lot of different circumstances and difficulties, they finally decided to leave the colony. They came to this conclusion as they began to see that the Hutterite way of life was not necessarily the way God had prescribed for them to live. They realized that living in the colony didn’t make them right with God or give them eternal life. According to God’s Word, they saw that salvation and eternal life is a gift of God and not something we can earn by our behavior. Jesus said that “unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)
We have eternal life when we are born of the Spirit of God. It is only Jesus who can give us eternal life. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God” (Eph. 2:8) There is nothing we can do to save ourselves, no matter how good or how bad we are. We are saved by God’s grace through faith!
My desire for doing this is to bless and honor my father and mother. I know how hard it is to leave everything familiar to them and start fresh, especially at their age. My siblings and I helped them in the move and settled them for now at my brother’s place in Wisconsin.
We would love to come around them in this transition and help them to get established on their own. They left with only their personal belongings and no money. They have basic needs of housing, food, and personal expenses as they get adjusted.
Some of you have reached out wanting to help, and I wanted to provide this way to give online. As a family, we would really appreciate the help to bless them in this way. Thank you so much for your support. Please pray that God will be known, loved and lifted high in my family!
