Cornish Tortoise Rescue and Rehoming-Tort Towers Rescue CIC
Donation protected
Tort Towers is a community interest company with a focus on rescue, rehabilitation, and safe rehoming of tortoises in Cornwall, UK.
We have been running for a few years but only set up as a CIC since 2025. To date we have rescued and rehomed almost 30 torts in need.
We are a small family run CIC and have 12 resident torts including leopards, red foots, spur thigh, hermanns, and horsefields.
As we grow, we will be fundraising, providing educational events, and linking in with the local community to provide knowledge on appropriate tortoise care and housing as well as support for existing tortoise keepers.
We will also be creating a community foster programme which will support us in rescuing tortoises from other areas, ensuring safe care while they wait for suitable rehoming.
Why am I Asking for Donations?
Many torts have come to us in very poor and neglectful states, requiring urgent specialist treatment which is expensive. One of our torts almost died in 2024 after a serious lung infection but after a lot of care, tests, medicine, specialists, and love, she thankfully pulled through. The total cost of her treatment was over £1000.
All of our torts eat a totally natural diet and while foraging supports this, it can quickly get expensive particularly in winter months for those who are overwintered due to illness, age, and not all of our torts being a hibernating species.
Regular costs of care includes lamps being replaced every 12 months, a full nutritious diet, calcium and vitamin supplements, tort tables, custom built houses/tables, substrate and bedding, regular vet visits for beak and nail trims, and additional tort vet checks/meds/x-rays/treatments especially during periods of illness.
I care for my tortoises with the support of my partner and daughter. I work a full time job and a voluntary job with the NAS. I make time to care for these incredible reptiles because they are so important to me and I passionately believe that no animal should ever be mistreated.
We are also looking to convert and expand our tortoise enclosures to enable us to have more room for tortoises, which will mean we are able to take in more tortoises in need.
Important Information
Any donations received will be hugely appreciated, and spent on tort care and expansion only with full transparency of a breakdown of costs shared on social media pages.
All donations will enable me to continue to care for unwanted, neglected, and unwell tortoises. Your donations will also support me to continue to rehabilitate and rehome tortoises to loving and experienced homes. This means that less tortoises are needing to be euthanised due to illness and lack of space in existing reptile/tortoise rescue centres.
If ever I reach a point of being unable to continue to do this, any funds not spent will be donated to The Tortoise Protection Group and news of this will be shared on social media pages.
And Lastly, Thank You...
Any donation, or share of this donation page will make the biggest difference. Thank you so very much, and I hope you will continue to follow and support us.
