Cornelius Needs Us: Help Fund Safe Housing Today

Cornelius, a beloved teacher at CBI's Gan Keshet Preschool, has been a guiding light in our community for years. He has touched the lives of countless children and families with his warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to their growth and happiness. Now, Cornelius faces a challenge that no one should have to bear alone.

As he bravely battles Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Cornelius continues to demonstrate remarkable strength and positivity. However, these debilitating conditions have made it difficult for him to maintain the stability his family so desperately needs. Recently, Cornelius and his teenage son Jai, have had to rely on the generosity of community members, staying in the spare bedrooms and basements of friends during an incredibly difficult transitional period.

Now, they’ve identified a couple possibilities for houses that are a perfect match for their needs, with a monthly rent of $1,600-$2,000 plus utilities. But they need our help to secure one of these homes and ensure they can live in Northampton (where Jai attends NHS) for at least the next two years without fear of eviction.

We are reaching out to you—our community—to rally around Cornelius in his time of need. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to secure housing for Cornelius and Jai in Northampton, ensuring they have a safe place to live for at least the next two years while Cornelius navigates the lengthy process of applying for disability benefits. This will provide him with the peace of mind to focus on his health and caring for his family without the added stress of housing instability.
