Corinne's Music Dream

Hello, my name is Corinne Farley. I am a 16 year old sophomore at Fort Collins High School. I have a deep love and passion for music. I play the French horn in my high school Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra. In the band and orchestra, I play co-principal horn. For this summer, I was accepted into Brevard Music Center in North Carolina. BMC is a six-week summer music festival where I can receive private horn lessons, attend theory classes, perform in orchestral and chamber groups, attend numerous performances, and so much more. It has been a big dream of mine to go to this summer camp. My grandparents taught at BMC for over twenty years. My aunt and uncle taught there for a while, too. My mother also attended BMC for many summers as a violin student. She still has close friends that she met there. Another one of my uncles worked there, too. I would really like to continue my family's tradition by attending Brevard Music Center. I have looked at the repertoire that will be performed by the different ensembles this summer, and I would love to be able to play, along with listen to these pieces. I believe that with more exposure to participating in and attending performances, I will be able to increase my musical ability, helping me to build my future in music. I am also excited to get additional feedback from other professional musicians, to improve my playing ability. But when it comes to finances, I need a little help. I have three younger siblings who all also have interests of their own. My parents, Rob and Jean, try to support each of us in these activities, but they don't have the funds to fully back each of us in everything they believe will help us have more successful futures. With help raising these funds, I will be able to make my dream come true. Thank you in advance for your assistance that is so very special to me.
