Corina’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hello everyone, for those that don’t me, I’m Jolene, Corina’s little sister. On Sunday, March 2nd, Corina was found unresponsive. Through quick action by her husband and the EMTs, they brought her back to life. She suffered multiple strokes and was intubated for 3 days while they assessed for brain damage and let her gain strength to breath on her own again.
Miraculousy, in the days since they removed the vent and she’s been off the sedation, we’ve seen many glimpses of the Corina we all know. Each day gets better and better. She’s talking. She’s recognizing everyone. She’s making smart ass comments sometimes, lol. She’s still extremely confused at times, tired, and will need to go to rehab to be able to walk again. This will be quite the journey for Corina, and her family.
Her daughter, Jalyn lives in Florida for school and work, but she’ll need to be traveling back and forth as much as we can help her be able to. She’s needs her kids here with her as much as possible during this difficult time.
Her son, Neil Jr, is only 16 and will be staying at my house for the time being. This has been the easiest way for everyone to get to and from the hospital. He’s been so positive about her outcome this whole time. We needed that good outlook.
I’m trying to plan ahead, and Corina and Neil will need a safe, close, most likely handicapped accessible place to live once she completes rehab. It’s been one week in the ICU and I will keep everyone updated as she progresses.
