*** August Update***
On July 27th, 2020, 19 month old Cori Kennedy Thompson was diagnosed with Erythoid leukemia, a rare form of Acute Myleloid Leukemia (AML) . Rare in small children, Erythoid is usually found in adults. Over the course of 6 months, Cori will undergo six (6) aggressive chemotherapy treatments, in which she will be treated at Children's National Medical Center, located in Washington DC, for 4-6 weeks for each individual treatment. If the chemotherapy is ineffective, Cori will have to undergo a bone marrow transplant. Cori has already been placed on the registry list. Her mother, Brittani Thompson will have to reside at the hospital with her for the entire duration of each treatment, with limited support due to COVID-19.
Cori also has two brothers Caleb & Caden Thompson, that the family will be caring for while Cori and her mother are at the hospital. We are hopeful that with the expertise of her team of medical professionals and the love and support from those around her Cori can beat this and go on to live a happy, healthy childhood.
