Hi, we are Tanya and Melissa, 2 of Cori's lifelong friends who are trying to help support her and her daughter, Harper throughout their time of need.

As most of you are already aware, Cori's husband Gary Porter passed away suddenly and unexpectedly after an arduous battle with MS. It is astounding that it has already been 2 months since his passing, but what is even more astounding to us is that during those 2 months filled with so much grieving, stress, anxiety and her own health problems, Cori has continued to get out of bed each morning and putting one foot in front of the other, one small step at a time, she has tried to pick up the pieces left of the life for her and Harper... all while asking for VERY LITTLE help.

With Gary's passing, new financial struggles have come to light for Cori and Harper. Not only are they dealing with the grief of losing a partner and a father, but they are also now struggling to keep up with many unexpected expenses. Covering the balance of final funeral expenses, bill payments and the cost of living would be enough on their own to deal with. But sadly, Gary did not have life insurance and this beautiful family has been left to try to resume their life as they knew it, while also sorting through many new and unexpected expenses, like the renovations they began to bring Gary home. And let's not forget Christmas, now less than a month away.

These are just a few of many many things that have left this small family in a financial struggle, with a very real fear that they may lose their home.

They will be forever grateful and hopefully able to keep their family home. At Gary's celebration of life, the focus was on what an incredibly kind and empathetic person he was. His smile could light up any room and he would help ANYONE at ANY time without hesitation. Wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if those of us who knew Gary could help repay any kindness we ever saw him show, by helping his girls? I know that is what Porter would hope we would do.

This family needs a little help and I know that we can do it. Let's come together and show Gary's girls that they aren't alone. A small donation from many people can go a very long way! We may not be capable of making their financial struggles disappear, but I do believe that if we all come together we can allow Cori to breathe a little easier, pay some bills, give Harper a Christmas a wonderful Christmas, and most importantly, keep their family home.
