Corey’s Stroke Recovery Fund
Donation protected
51 year-old Corey Baker, 20-year resident of Grand Coulee, Washington, suffered a massive stroke on June 30th. He was airlifted to Spokane, and moved in and out of the intensive care unit for a stressful two weeks following the stroke. Currently, he is being treated at St. Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital, but now the health insurance company will no longer pay for his treatment, even though doctors say he needs extensive physical, speech and occupational therapy. If he cannot come up with the funds soon, he will be transferred to a nursing home (which will not be covered by insurance), where he is unlikely to get the services he needs. If he moves to a nursing home before his rehabilitation is complete, Corey’s chances of recovery are slim.
Corey’s three daughters are all graduates of Lake Roosevelt High School, and the youngest is still in college, starting as a Junior at Eastern Washington University this Fall. Shelley Baker, Corey’s wife, has some medical issues of her own and is currently unable to work. Besides medical bills and college tuition payments, the family has house payments, car payments, and other expenses that continue to pile up.
Corey works hard and is well-loved in his community. Before the stroke, he delivered mail to the residents of Grand Coulee six days a week, and he has become known all over town for his friendly smile, and willingness to help others.
Please help this family get back on their feet. They have some difficult times ahead, and need help. We don't know exactly what the medical bills will be, and what will be covered by insurance, but we will post updates as we find out more. Any amount that you can give would be greatly appreciated.
