Corey has been battling cancer for about 5 years. In Corey’s early 20s when his peers were worrying about college, boyfriends/girlfriends, and other normal young adult problems. Corey was wondering if he would have a future at all. A little over 3 years ago he started dating my sister Nikkie. And soon they fell in love.Over the last three years Corey and Nikkie have joined together in his fight against this awful disease. They have endured countless treatments, Dr.’s appointments, and setbacks. Their love has helped Corey face the hard times and made the “good times” that much better.
On July 19th Corey asked Nikkie to marry him! She said yes!! Unfortunately cancer doesn’t care about love or marriages. Shortly after the couple announced their engagement, Corey got terrible news. His cancer, which has been very responsive to treatment, no longer was and it had spread.
At 27 years old, Corey was told that he has 3-6 months left to live. Nikkie and Corey decided they still want to get married despite this terrible prognosis and moved up the wedding date. For better or worse and in sickness or health on January 10th Corey and Nikkie will be joined in holy matrimony.
Because of his health issues he has not been able to work in the past months. And as hard as Nikkie works as a skidder operator, they do not have the means to afford a honeymoon.
My sister and Corey dream of traveling and making memories that they will keep forever. I am asking for help making their dream come true!
