Corey the Kitten
Donation protected
Corey came to the Cat Castle in June, picked off the streets of a nearby colony by his attentive feeders. While at first we were concerned about his upper respiratory infection, the night we received him we noticed he had a large bite wound on his tail and behind, filled with maggots. Even worse, we saw the maggots had moved into his anus, and feared that he was too far gone to save.
Miraculously, Corey survived his maggot infestation thanks to aggressive treatment with capstar and many dewormers!!! Despite this success, Corey is definitely suffering from gastrointestinal complications of unknown origin. He is severely constipated, so much so that a 5-day long hospitalization for enemas and colorectal expression did not help. Attached are his X-Rays, which show his poop very backed up despite frequent bowel movements.
Corey is on several medications for his issues but needs to seek out the help of an internal medicine specialist for us to really understand what is going on with him and what the course of hi While this seems to be an uphill battle, Corey has already survived maggots (a death sentence for many street kittens) and we have hope for him to overcome this, too!!
His foster mom writes, "Corey the kitten is possibly the sweetest little guy on planet earth. Although Corey is leaking poop 24 hours a day, living alone in a bathroom and has a hissy foster brother bugging him at every turn, this guy is 100% love and affection. The moment I, or any visitor, enters the room, he toddles over looking for a head or belly scratch. His favorite thing is to be held and he doesn’t even mind getting a bath if it means he gets some people time. Corey is so sweet that the vet couldn’t even listen to his heart at his checkup because he was purring too loudly. Corey’s stomach is causing him major problems, and while he isn’t letting it dampen his spirit, we need to raise money so he can see a specialist and so we can continue treatment."
Please share Corey's story!! He has proven to be tough, loving, and a little fighter, and we are determined to help him keep fighting! While specialists are expensive, we know little Corey is worth it. Thank you in advance for your support :)
