Update: 9/22/23: Corey is at the facility and making tremendous amounts of progress with his physical and occupational therapies already, his doctor is thoroughly impressed with his progress and foresees his discharge date to be around Oct 20th where he will continue to do outpatient therapy in Reno nv. We appreciate your support and I will continue to update as he progresses.
Update: 9/18/23: Corey will be going to physical therapy in California. He still is unable to walk or use his hands so he will be going to a facility where they specialize in his injury. He will be there about a month, depending. If you would like to be updated on his progress, send him a message and I'll add you to the list. Thank you for your love and support.
Update 9/10/23: Corey's surgery was a success. He has gained a little mobility every day but the 3rd day is the toughest so far. He is able to move his wrists better today but is still unable to move his legs on his own, though he is able to roll them back and forth which is more than he could do 2 days ago. He's very determined to get back to normal. He's making sure to interact with pt whenever he has the opportunity and being sedentary like this is a challenge. He's doing great though and keeping in positive spirits. He appreciates everyone that has checked on him. He will get back to normal but it's the little victories that will determine how quickly and successful he is. He's got the tenacity of a damn bull. We are trying to figure things out with his work, children, housing in the mean time. He is strictly on a liquid diet at this time and will be reevaluated tomorrow to see if we can switch solids.
Hi my name is Stephanee, Corey is my best friend and love. On 9/8/23, he was in a horrific motorcycle accident 3 blocks from the house, he hit the front brakes, hit some loose ground and sent him sailing through the air and causing injury to his spine (c5, c6) they had to perform surgery shortly after getting admitted to the hospital, fusing his spine at the injury site to ensure stability and to decrease the swelling he sustained. He does not have use of his hands or legs and we have been informed that this recovery will be long. This means he will not be able to work and unfortunately he did not have short term disability. Anything helps and I feel hopeful that he will recover but this will be the most difficult thing that this family has ever faced together. Keep him in your prayers. He will need every one.
