My brother's apartment caught fire due to an adjacent apartment barbequing on their patio late Tuesday evening. He and his boys lost everything. He's devastated but thanking God he and his children can walk away unharmed. When we talked, he was filled with every emotion imaginable. Hearing him fight through tears broke my heart.

He described the difficulties of the fire department trying to fight the fire and how quickly it spread. The Fire Department worked from 10 pm Tuesday to about 5 am Wednesday, attempting to extinguish the blaze, which resulted in a total loss for him. I can’t begin to imagine waking up to realize that everything I’ve worked for has just gone.

One of his boys said, “You didn’t deserve this, dad; you are a good dad.” The truth is, none of them did and are looking for words to comfort each other.
