My name is Coretta Robinson and March 2023 changed my family's lives forever. Domestic violence put a complete halt to my life and left me with many injuries to overcome. Not only did it leave physical damage to me, but emotional damage on my family with the loss of my mother, who was caught in the crossfire.

A simple argument led to gunshots, which led to a four week hospital stay for me, many disabilities and the death of my partner, my mom. I survived multiple gunshot wounds, the most severe of which, was a headshot. Because of this, I've been evicted and forced to relocate.

There has been many challenges I've had to face over the past couple of months, like losing my sense of security, ability to work, and a place to call home, but the hardest part is living apart from my three small children. With the safety concern on top of constant hospital and doctor's offices trips, normalcy was needed in my children's lives. Sitting in one of those appointments and hearing that I may not get my vision back in one eye was devastating. It was at that point when I knew going back to work was not an immediate option; that we needed help from our community.

We will be able to have a fresh start, together, while I'm able to recover properly with minimal concerns. These donations will go towards doctor's visits and remaining facial surgeries and supplies, household essentials, like beds for us all, clothes and food, and of course shelter where my children and I can build a new life.
