Cordero-Acea Family Support

Donation protected
Beatriz Cordero-Acea, a long-time Takoma Park Maryland resident and founder of Infant Garden Bilingual Daycare, a local small business, passed away on May 15 from the effects of the COVID-19 virus.  Her death leaves a huge space in the lives of her extended family, her young charges and their parents, and our community.  It also leaves a financial hole, made worse by the health emergency.

Her husband Ernesto Sr., a Ride On bus driver, was furloughed in March, and her daughter is also unable to work due to the pandemic. Beatriz recently sponsored two immigrant cousins who are now dependent financially on the family—a barber whose shop is now closed; and one whose legal immigration status was just confirmed.  With childcare services shut down due to the pandemic, Beatriz had applied to care for the young children of essential workers. Funds are urgently needed for medical, funeral, education, and living expenses, to support the family in their home on New Hampshire Avenue.

Please give, if you can, to provide short term support to this hard-working, responsible family, members of our community, during this difficult time.  Your generous donation of any amount is deeply appreciated.

“Hello, my name is Delores. With a heavy heart, I want to let you know that Beatriz Cordero-Acea, my long-time friend and next door neighbor, (for more than 25 years), passed away on Friday, May 15 at Holy Cross Hospital after suffering the sudden, awful, ravaging effects of the relentless COVID-19 virus. As you can imagine, her family, relatives, friends, clients and significant others are all stunned with sheer disbelief and nearly unbearable grief.

Beatriz's professional training focused on early childhood education, so she lived her dream when she established a full-service learning center committed to excellence in Takoma Park called Infant Garden Bilingual Daycare. For Miss BeBe, as she was affectionately known to her young charges (including my granddaughter, Lila) and parents, this was not just a business opportunity; this was her purpose, her ministry.

Ask anyone who knew Miss BeBe and they would, without any exaggeration, describe her as an exceptional humanitarian with a big heart; a passionate child and family advocate;  an effective leader;  a successful, accomplished business woman; always willing to help others; immensely generous, humble, thoughtful, wonder-full, kind and loving. Beatriz leaves a huge space to fill not only in our TP community, but especially in our hearts.

It is extremely difficult to embrace and accept the inexorable, sudden loss of Beatriz because there were no personal final goodbyes...no telephone calls...no hugs and kisses...  Because of this pandemic, we are left with the insufficiency of "VIRTUAL" closure for our most important, most precious, sacred relationships. How does one recover?”
