In February, our beloved father, Cordell Hull Bendeck, was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. He has fought with incredible strength and courage, but the cancer has now spread throughout his body.

Over these past months, my mom, my brother, and I have been by his side caring for him while balancing work, appointments, and countless hospital visits. It has been the hardest journey of our lives, but also one filled with love and moments we will always hold close. Through it all, our father has remained our rock, and our greatest supporter. His courage has encouraged us.

Our dad was a hardworking merchant marine, who dedicated his life to providing for his family. He had a gift for connecting with people—whether it was an old friend or a stranger he met over coffee. If you gave him just a minute of your time, he’d happily share a conversation about life. He built friendships everywhere he went, and touched so many lives with his warmth, humor, and kindness.

As we face the heartbreaking reality of his condition, our wish is to give our dad the dignity of a proper burial. Unfortunately, the financial burden is heavy, and we are humbly asking for help during this difficult time.

We also want to take a moment to thank all of you who have been there for us along the way—family, friends, neighbors, and even kind strangers. Your prayers, visits, calls, and encouragement have carried us more than you know, and we are deeply grateful.

Any contribution, big or small, will go directly toward covering funeral and burial expenses, and will help ease some of the weight on our family as we grieve and honor his memory.

Nuestro padre fue un marino mercante muy trabajador que dedicó su vida a mantener a su familia. Ante la desgarradora realidad de su condición, nuestro deseo es brindarle a nuestro padre la dignidad de un entierro digno. Desafortunadamente, la carga financiera es considerable, y humildemente solicitamos ayuda en estos momentos difíciles.
