Hi, My name is Gretchen, and I am fundraising to help offset memorial/funeral costs for Cord DeWitt. Below is an impassioned statement from his mother, Shari Porter.

On September 25th I lost the love of my life. 41 and 1/2 years ago the most beautiful baby boy was born to me Cord was a special part of my heart and now there will always be a big hole for the loss of my son. Cord was a very good man a very intelligent man who cared for one and all. I know all his friends will miss him but not more than I will as he was my son and my only child. No one expects to outlive their children but since this horrible disease has come about a lot of moms and dads grandmothers grandfathers all have lost people that they love more than anything in the world. As to them my heart goes out because I truly understand you can never understand this till it happens to you. As I am a single parent and a elderly lady who lives on a fixed income being able to afford a proper service for my son will be very difficult that's why I reach out to you friends and family to help me pay for the expenses of his services and what has to be done. I am his only living parent and I will be the one that will be taking care of all the expenses on my very limited budget so if you can help please do it will help out me to make sure everything is done properly. Thank you so much for your help Cord would be so grateful to know that someone was helping his mother with the expenses of his services. As a mother I just have one more thing to say if you have not gotten your Covid 19 injections do so. Family does not have to live with the nightmare of someone they love in intensive care and struggling to hang on to life help them help you get your vaccination please.
